Project Skyscraper

What Is It?

Project Skyscraper is an alternate reality game (ARG) that emerged within the No Man's Sky community in early 2026. A website at project-skyscraper.com began publishing what appeared to be corrupted system logs from an entity calling itself The Architect.

note

"Project Skyscraper" was also the internal codename used during early development of No Man's Sky at Hello Games, as well as "skyscraper" being the name of the game engine.

Timeline

The site was first noticed in late March 2026, posting cryptic entries at regular intervals. The ETARC community moderators surfaced it publicly on May 15, 2026. Within days, the fiction named its own operators as part of the story, linking directly back to the ETARC discussion thread.

How It Works

The Architect & System publish memory blocs, security logs, and diagnostic reports to the website. The community solves ciphers and puzzles embedded in these posts. Solving them visibly changes the site - new pages appear, text mutates, things are added and removed, and the narrative advances.

tip

The ARG is interactive. Community solutions directly affect what The Architect and System publish next.

Key Elements

  • The Architect - the entity posting logs and communicating with Operators
  • System - the AI infrastructure of relatively unknown origin communicating with Operators
  • Operators - the players engaging with the ARG
  • Memory Blocs - timestamped entries that encode recoverable/recovered/injected memories
  • TRACE - the in-universe communication platform that is ETARC

Community Involvement

The investigation community spans NMScord, ETARC, NMS France Discord, Galactic Hub, and many other communities. Operators have conducted real-world field verifications in London, and virtual field verifications in Brussels, Paris and Ottawa - confirming "structural / temporal anomalies" that the fiction predicted.

warning

The ARG blends fiction with reality. Always verify information through community channels before treating it as canonical.
